The effect of bankruptcy on credit

You may pay a higher interest rate on a home mortgage or a car loan, but the credit will be available. Many people find that their credit scores are higher just months after completing bankruptcy.

Use caution when accepting offers of credit

There are predatory lenders who will target people fresh out of bankruptcy. Be very careful about accepting a credit card offer, an offer of a zero-down mortgage or a loan from an auto dealer. If you pay your bills on time for the ten years your bankruptcy appears on your credit report, you will find that you are able to borrow money at reasonable rates after only a few years.
